- Concerts and college fests
- Hotels and resorts
- Other Mega Events
How does a baggage scanner work?
When the baggage is kept on the conveyor belt, the x-rays hit two detectors. The first
detector collects energy and position of the x-rays which are low-energy and as they
continue towards the second detector, the rays are blocked by a filter that only allows high
energy. Thus, the second detector can collect only high energy. These two outputs from the
detectors are compared with the help of data converters and converted into a high-resolution
image of the objects on the photo detector.
The imaging analysis is used to assign colors of the objects on the photo-detector based on
the atomic numbers. 3 color or 6 color-coding is done for the baggage passing through the
lead-lined curtains. Organic materials like paper, food, and cloth are in orange, light
metals are in green and dense metals are in blue. The denser the material, the darker is the
color.
